2023 Bike Parade - Latham Island Neighbourhood Association

Prizes will be awarded for:

• Best Decorated (6 Years Old and Under)
• Best Decorated (7 to 11 years old)
• Best Decorated (Older than 11)
• Coolest Colourful Character (Adult Prize)
• Incredibly Imaginative Individual (Adult Prize)
• Grooviest Group (3 people minimum as a group)


9:30am
Dress your bike to impress and join us for a bike rally. You can decorate your bike at home or come together at Latham Island Park on Saturday morning where we will have all kinds of stuff for you and your children to decorate your bikes. Decorating starts at 9:30 am

10:30am
We will have some judges out at 10:30 so if you want to participate in the contest for prizes, you can register at the park during decorating. (See the prize categories above).


10:45am
We will head out for our bike parade together and we will be awesome! Bring bikes, trikes, scooters, skateboards and strollers! We will start the parade at Latham Island Park. We will bike around Otto and Morrison Drive, across the causeway and into Old Town, nishing at Old Town Glassworks/Old Town
Bikeworks. We have a shortcut planned for those wee ones that may need a bit more time and less
distance to get to our end location!

 

11:30am
We will finish this event with treats for all the kids and prizes for kids and adults alike. This event is open to kids and adults alike! Costumes are optional... but they sure make the parade more colourful and fun... so we encourage you to have fun and be creative!

Bullocks Bistro Ramble and Ride special. We will have a have a Fish taco booth outside in our parking lot. We will be selling fish taco’s and pogo sticks for $5.00 each. Bullocks salad dressing and cooking sauce will be on sale for $15 for any 2 items. The Restaurant will be open on Saturday from Noon to 9:00pm

Old Town Glassworks and Bikeworks is excited to offer special event pricing on select glassware,
and opportunities to WIN prizes!

 

Find something for everyone from our fine assortment of limited
edition Ramble & Ride 2023 glassware, refurbished bicycles, and even a water sprinkler to cool
off the little ones (or the furry ones!).


In our Showroom, explore our featured locally-made art and handmade jewelry, while grooving to live musical entertainment in the yard.

While getting your passport to old town stamp, give the special homemade ice cream a try!


Sundog Tours - Old Town Walking Tour at 1pm - Saturday only
Join a Sundog guide on an informative walking tour of Old Town. The tour starts and finishes at the Sundog Trading Post (4 Lessard Drive). You will visit Pilot’s Monument, Cultural Crossroads painted rock and the Woodyard shacks. The tour is approximately 1 - 1.5hrs in length. Walking is generally flat.
Participants do not have to climb the stairs to the top of Pilot’s Monument.

We will be promoting Old Town Wildcat Cafe Specials, including 10 Rib eye with chimichurri sauce,

Ragged Ass Garden Tour

Visit the gardens of Willow Flats in Old Town. From veggie boxes in the swamp to cement flower beds to manicured lawns and greenhouses, these gardens are unique and beautiful. Saturday, August 5th will be a guided tour starting at Hak’s Auto Body at 2:00pm. Sunday, August 6th, participants are invited to roam
the area talking to the gardeners or peeking over fences from 2:00 to 5:00pm. A map will be provided at

3901 Bryson Drive.

This time, Swan & Mitchell act as event disorganizers and mis-informants whose fake announcements depict an imaginary Yellowknife they really wish existed. Located in the Gallery of the Midnight Sun Parking lot.
